Contest Rules

These rules were developed to facilitate the most fair and accurate competition possible for the Martinez community.
  1. Votes can be made by completing the online form at www.thebestofmartinez.com.  All voting entries must have voters’ complete information, or the votes will not be counted.

  2. There is only one vote per category per person. Winners are chosen by people who fill out the online voting ballot.  We will track IP addresses; if more than one person wants to vote within your household, they may not use the same computer, tablet, phone, or shared network.

  3.  Citizen of the Year Awards are NOMINATION ONLY.  Voting is restricted. If you would like to endorse a pre-existing Nominee in a category, please review the criteria in the description and email your endorsement of that candidate to info@martinezchamber.com.  Please include details regarding why this candidate meets the criteria outlined.

  4. Business of the Year NOMINATIONS RESTRICTED.  ONLY candidates who have been recipients of a Business of the Month 2023-2024 Through April 2024 are eligible.

  5. Nominees must do business (or work for non-business-related categories) within Martinez or have an active Martinez Chamber of Commerce Membership or Martinez Business License (unless exempt).  We verify all participants via the Business License database, social media, and registered website.  All votes must be received no later than April 30th, 2024.

  6. In the interest of fairness to all participants, nominees may not be listed in any more than 3 categories during the Best of Martinez. Nominees must choose and stick to their categories for the duration of the voting timeline.

  7. If a business is caught “Stuffing Ballots,” breaking one of our security measures, and submitting multiple ballots with the voting focus on the same business or businesses, the software automatically flags these incidents, and the are scrubbed from the final list.  We have a responsibility to the businesses that participate in providing a fair and accurate voting process that ensures that no one abuses the integrity of the online competition.

  8. The BEST OF MARTINEZ facilitators reserve the right to remove any business that has entered the competition incorrectly or has used marketing materials, badges, language, or behavior that is not in line with the competition.   Participants who violate the rules will receive a written warning about the incident.

  9. By participating in THE BEST OF MARTINEZ, you grant us permission to use your business name, likeness, and or image for use in our marketing and promotional materials related to the competition and/or party.  All THE BEST OF MARTINEZ competition results are held privately by the Martinez Chamber.

  10. Winners and runners up will be announced at the B.O.M.B! AKA THE BEST OF MARTINEZ BASH! June 29th. A notification will be sent with additional information when available.
